About the role
Smart Works are looking to appoint a HR Advisor to join our People team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing team of two, the HR Advisor will play a crucial role in developing the centralisation of the function for all 11 centres across the UK.
The HR Advisor will manage the employee lifecycle staff processes and the trustee recruitment processes, supporting the Head of People in maintaining a professional and efficient function and contributing to the delivery of the People Teams plans and objectives.
An important part of the role is to build excellent working relationships with employees working across Smart Works. The successful candidate will also identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Smart Works is a national charity, with Smart Works centres across the UK. There will therefore be occasional travel and liaison with local centres across the UK and HQ in London, to support induction and training, as well as the day-to-day role.
Duties and responsibilities

Manage the HR Inbox, advising managers and staff on terms and conditions of employment and legislation relevant to specific policies and procedures.
- Managing the recruitment inbox, provide guidance on staffing requirements.
- Lead user of the ATS system, oversee the recruitment process, posting job adverts, scheduling interviews, drafting letters and contracts.
- Support trustee recruitment, posting job adverts, liaising with trustees and co-ordinating responses via the recruitment inbox.
- Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees and interns, including induction plans and process, coordinating probation reviews and exit interviews where appropriate.
- Day to day administration of Breathe HRIS, setting up of new profiles, calculating annual bank holidays, managing employee changes and document merge/uploads.
- Compile monthly payroll information.
- Provide advice to line managers and staff in relation to policies, tailoring communication to individual needs.
- Maintaining timeframes on HR projects and annual processes, such as appraisals.
- Compile monthly HR stats and reports as and when needed.
- Contribute to HR Projects as they arise.

At Bookmark Reading Charity, we exist to change children’s life stories through the joy of reading. We are recruiting a Fundraising Research and Administration Intern who will join the charity for six months and play an important role in providing valuable insight to teams across the charity, with a particular focus on supporting the Fundraising team. You will be responsible for research and analysis into potential donors, along with providing administrative support with donor communications, campaigns and database management. This role is an opportunity to gain fundraising experience in a growing organisation and develop a variety of transferable skills in a charity setting.
Job Description
- Lead on prospect research to build our pipeline of prospect funders across corporates, foundations and individuals
- Identify new organisations and philanthropists who could be supporters of Bookmark
- Support with delivering an effective impact reporting programme by creating termly update reports, case studies and mass mailings
- Work with the Schools team to organise donor visits at our partner schools
- Complete online enquiry forms for prospective Trusts and Foundations
- Work with the Impact Team to ensure that key impact statements and statistics are shared with the Fundraising team to support exceptional proposals

ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION
Contract type:Fixed Term, 6 months
Salary: London Living Wage (£13.15 per hour) equating to £25,643 p.a FTE
Location: Three days per week at the Bookmark office with flexibility around home working for the remaining days
Hours: 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday).Attendance required at some events which may fall outside of normal working hours. Bookmark operates a TOIL policy in such cases.

Fauna & Flora is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programme Assistant to deliver effective support to the Conservation Capacity & Leadership team. Harington is an Ofsted registered specialist college based in North London rated good, working with around 52 young people with learning differences aged 16-25. Our mission is to create an inclusive environment, that delivers outstanding personalised education, learning, and support, which leads to further education, employment opportunities, and a fulfilling life for each of our students.
We specialise in horticulture, retail and general employability. Our students undertake individualised learning programmes and supported internships that lead to vocational qualifications and achieving other aims. We support the wellbeing of our young people through providing mentoring, counselling, enrichment and other one-to-one support.
Our charity has two learning centres in Highgate and Hornsey. We also operate a gardening business and two charity shops, providing income for our charity, work experience placements for our students and employment for 14 young people. JUSTICE is looking for an outstanding criminal lawyer, for a full-time fixed term 12-month contract, with the possibility of renewal, subject to funding. This provides an exciting opportunity for a practising lawyer with a strong research background or academic lawyers keen to engage in high-level policy and law reform work.
We are looking for a lawyer mainly interested in criminal justice, as well as in cross-cutting issues affecting the functioning of the justice system (current cross-cutting projects include work on the state of the rule of law in the UK and AI, human rights, and the law).
JUSTICE is at the forefront of work promoting access to a fair criminal justice system for all. The successful candidate will be building on our recent work on racial injustice in the youth criminal justice system and post-conviction decision making, including the parole system and administrative decision-making in prisons, as well as our cross-cutting workstream on the state of the rule of law in the UK. They will also be scoping and setting up a new criminal justice project relating to fraud.
We would like to recruit a bright, motivated person who is passionate about criminal justice system reform, and the promotion of access to justice and fair trial. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team. With excellent interpersonal skills, they will be able to work closely with JUSTICE members, who include senior figures in the legal profession. The post holder will work with our Interim Legal Director to further develop our criminal justice work stream and assist on system-wide proposals for change. This role is focused primarily on England and Wales, though it will touch on UK wide issues and the Scottish criminal justice system from time-to-time.
The JUSTICE team are currently working in a hybrid manner. Staff members have access to office space in London, however, attendance is currently optional.
